Belva Maxine Miller obit - Akron News-reporter

Fuller of Boulder, Jean Dreher of Anchorage, Debra Sliz of Sedona, Kenda Fuller of Denver, and David Fuller of Reno. Her surviving siblings are Leo and Harold Miller both of Akron, Lyle Miller of Fairfield, Vern Miller of Magalia, Betty Schmidt of Greely and Carol Jean Johnson of Elgin. Her 14 surviving grandchildren were the joy of her life, as were her great grandchildren. Services were held for Belva Maxine Fuller on Monday, June 11 at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phil Vogels officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Mobile Meals of Akron.

Catholic University and undertook graduate studies at Catholic University and Notre Dame. She was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, in 2005 from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Conn., where she served as special assistant to the president for five years until April 2011. Early in her religious life, she taught in several Buffalo area schools: Blessed Sacrament, Mount St. Mary, St. John the Baptist, all in the Town of Tonawanda; and St. Mary’s Seminary in Buffalo. From 1980 to 1982, she worked with the Jesuit Refugee Services at Ban V’hai camp in Thailand. Returning to Buffalo, she became director of religious education at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Colden, and in 1987, she was co-director for two years at St. Columban’s Retreat Center in Derby. Pogue, Fairfield, Ia.; Miss Clara Spears, Knoxville, Tenn.; William Spears of Stronghurst, Ill. and Mrs. Olive Whiteman of Burlington, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Clarence G. Richey Oct. 4, 1881 and to them were born seven children: Raus Richey, Stronghurst, Ill.; Mrs. Robert Clarke, Stronghurst, Ill.; Mrs. Charles Pogue, Stronghurst, Ill.; William Harold Richey, Prairie City, Ill.; Mrs. John Balridge, Des Moines, Ia.; Thomas A. Richey, Yuma City, Ariz.;; and Mrs. Waldo Spruitt, Traverse City, Mich.? These with the husband, thirteen grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends mourn this deep loss.? All the children mentioned were in attendance at the funeral which was held on May 15th.
