The capital murder charges against Stoves, and unrelated robbery and attempted murder charges, will be heard by Jefferson County Circuit Judge Stephen Wallace, who was assigned the case today, according to court records.
A first call is scheduled for Friday for Stoves, those records showed. First call is when a judge asks a suspect if he or she has an attorney.
The judge at that time can appoint a defense attorney for the suspect if he or she cannot afford one or give the suspect more time to hire an attorney.
