Miss Shreveport, Miss Greater Baton Rouge win Friday preliminaries - Monroe News Star

Mon, Jun 25, 2012
McCord and Miller joined the ranks of Thursday’s preliminary winners Miss Louisiana Tech Lauren Vizza, who won the lifestyle and fitness in swimwear competition, and Miss Lafayette Mallory Cox, who won the talent portion with her piano performance of “Rhapsodie Mignonne.” Friday included several more hours of rehearsal for the contestants, as well as the Fleur De Lis Princesses, a group of girls between the ages of 5 and 10 who are paired with a pageant contestant and participate in pageant week festivities. Friday afternoon, a party was held for the contestants and their princesses, giving the contestants a chance to relax before the show. Saturday is when the competition will really heat up, said Darris Waren, vice president of the Miss Louisiana Organization. The contestants will be rehearsing most of the day leading up to the pageant that night. “The preliminaries and production has been very exciting,” Waren said. “You can always feel the tension and excitement building as the week progresses.” The contestants have been working “nonstop” since their arrival in Monroe on Monday, which is not something that’s going to change when one of them is crowned Miss Louisiana 2012, Waren...

Cherry Hill Club, of which her father and uncle were founding members. She was also a bridge player and bowler. Mrs. Heckman was a lifetime member of Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church.
